Child, Adolescent and Family Therapy

“There really are places in the heart you don't even know exist until you love a child.” ~ Anne Lamott

“Nothing you do for children is ever wasted.” ~ Garrison Keillor, Leaving Home

“I know why families were created, with all their imperfections. They humanize you. They are made to make you forget yourself occasionally, so that the beautiful balance of life is not destroyed.” ~ Anaïs Nin

Growing up raises challenges for children and parents alike. One of the most difficult aspects of being a parent is seeing your child in pain and feeling like there is nothing that you can do to help. Whether they feel the pain of depression, anxiety, loss, trauma, divorce or social and academic pressure, my focus is in helping children reconnect with their inborn drive towards health and growth.

Children and teenagers often draw attention to their struggles through changes in attitude and behavior. Parents may notice their child's lower frustration tolerance, increased withdrawal, acting out, troubled relationships, physical symptoms, inattention, volatile mood etc.

The goal of therapy is helping children and adolescents to understand, process and communicate their feelings, learn better coping skills, regulate emotions, manage stress, and reconnect with their innate drive towards health, keeping them developmentally on track.
